Karl Malden

March 22, 1912 – July 1, 2009

Mladen George Sekulovich was born in Chicago into a Serbian family. At the age of 22, he changed his name to Karl Malden and embarked on a 60 year film career that gave us iconic movies like A Streetcar Named Desire, On the Waterfront, Gypsy and How the West Was Won.  Malden also worked in television and notably hawked American Express cards in the ’70’s and ’80’s. Throughout his career, he earned a number of awards, including an Oscar for his role in Streetcar. And, he has a post office named after him. Karl passed away in his home at the age of 97.

Specific Location

Rose Garden; Just south of the southern road in the park is a row of garden plots facing north, at the eastern end of these plots is another, perpendicular row of plots that faces east, Karl is buried in the 3rd space on the right as you go south down this row.
