Woodlawn Cemetery (Bronx)

If New York was to have an answer to Paris’ Père Lachaise, this would likely be it. (It’s probably actually Green-Wood in Brooklyn, but I digress). Private mausoleums and ornate statuary dot the rolling hills and twisting avenues in the Bronx. It can be overwhelming without a good map, but is a lovely place to spend some time. This National Historic Landmark is also the final home to some huge names including many jazz musicians and business magnates (J.C. Penney, Rowland Macy and Frank Woolworth are all buried here.)
